Annette Rotter earned her B.A. in American Studies from Brown University in 1984 and a Ph.D. with distinction in Clinical Psychology from Yeshiva University in 1990. She has been in private practice since 1991 and has also served as an adjunct professor in Developmental Psychology at New York University Graduate Psychology Department. Annette’s private practice includes work with couples, adults, adolescents, and divorcing parents. Recently published articles relate to the use of Co-Parenting Therapy for divorcing couples in order to protect families from the damaging effects of high conflict.

Annette currently serves on the national board of Sisterhood of Salaam Shalom and she is currently Co-chair of the Israel Palestine Committee with Lama Rimawi. Annette has been a Co-Leader of the first Westchester Sisterhood of Salaam Chapter since January 2016. This chapter piloted the participation of high school teens and developed and taught an interactive lesson to Jewish and Muslim 4th graders addressing the surprising similarities of Judaism and Islam. In addition, the Westchester chapter has hosted and participated in community-wide programs including documentary screenings, Ramadan, Shabbat, holiday programs, and service projects.

Annette also currently serves on the Board of El Centro Hispano, a not-for-profit based in White Plains, NY that assists and supports Hispanic families that have recently immigrated to help them become self-sufficient. El Centro provides educational programs to children and adults as well as health, housing, and employment referrals among its many services.

Annette also served as Chair of The Board Trustees of the Play Group Theatre (PGT). PGT is a theatre education not-for-profit for children and young adults in White Plains. During her tenure, Annette developed expanded community partnerships between PGT and local agencies such as El Centro Hispano and White Plains Youth Bureau in order to provide arts education programs to underserved youth in Westchester County, New York.

Annette lives in White Plains, NY with her husband Joel. They have three grown daughters, one son-in-law, and a brand new granddaughter.
