Arlington/Alexandria Service Project

On January 16, members of the Arlington/Alexandria I Sisterhood chapter joined forces with the Agudas Achim Congregation and the Alfred Street Baptist Church to pack over 20,100 meals for food insecure individuals and families in Alexandria, Virginia. They worked with The Outreach Program to assemble nutritionally balanced meal packets that were picked up by ALIVE!, a local interfaith organization dedicated to fighting poverty and hunger. A second component of the project was advocacy. Attendees wrote to Congress urging the reauthorization of the Farm Bill, which governs the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).
