Biweekly Briefing

April 27, 2022

Welcome to the Sisterhood's Biweekly Newsletter!

Planning for our 9th annual conference is underway, but we want to hear from you, specifically about HOW and WHERE you'd like to attend this year's conference. Please fill out this brief survey to help us better shape our plans!

Co-Leaders' Forum

May 9, 2022

8:00-9:00 p.m. ET

We are excited to invite you to a co-leaders' forum on Monday, May 9, 2022.

Why are we having a forum? We'd like to hear from you directly- about the successes, challenges, concerns, and questions you have as a co-leader. The last two years have challenged each of us, and we want to better understand how to support your leadership and Sisterhood experience. We also want to provide space where you can connect with and learn from fellow co-leaders!

Specifically, we will:

- Share new meeting ideas and activities for re-engaging your members
- Brainstorm solutions for common chapter challenges- if you have a question, we're sure others have it too!
- Let you know about upcoming programs and new initiatives so that you (and your fellow chapter sisters) can participate!
- Learn from you what methods of communication you prefer and how we can best keep you in the loop with all things Sisterhood-related.

Pre-registration is required for this free event. If you and your fellow co-leader(s) aren't available, please share this invitation with a representative from your chapter who can attend in your place. Questions? Email Nora Zaki, Program Manager for Training and Resource Development, at [email protected].

Conflict Resolution Within Israeli and Palestinian Communities

May 15, 2022
1:00-2:30 p.m. ET

The Sisterhood remains committed to creating opportunities for members to explore a wide spectrum of views on Palestine and Israel. We endeavor to hold space to hear one another and to work with organizations dedicated to nonviolent means of achieving justice and peace.

To that end, we have created the Cultivating Understanding, Promoting Just Peace Speaker Series. We invite you to participate in the forthcoming event featuring Hands of Peace. Please join Husam Jubran and Rabbi Daniel Roth as they share their work and vision for Palestinian and Israeli communities using tools of dialogue and conflict resolution.

Spring Sisterhood Peace Walk

May 20-May 30, 2022

To celebrate spring and sisterhood, we invite individuals and teams to join us in a fun event taking place wherever you live! From now through the end of May, individuals and teams (groups) can register to become fundraising champions for the Sisterhood. A team can be made up of a chapter, a group of members, or a few women from your local community.

From May 20-30, pick a day and plan a walk in your community to get outside, enjoy the springtime, and spend time with your sisters! Have a favorite park, walking trail, or neighborhood? Perfect! Wish to get together with other sisters at the end of your walk for a picnic? Great! Want to include your children, spouses, or other family members? They’re welcome too! Wish you had some cool Sisterhood swag to wear during your walk? We’ve got you covered. Visit our Online Store to purchase your official Spring Walk gear! But hurry- due to shipping and supply chain delays, we recommend placing your order ASAP to ensure delivery in time for your event!

Several regions across the U.S. will be holding regional Sisterhood stroll events. We will post regional event details as they become available. If you’re a sister not affiliated with a particular chapter or region but wish to connect with others in the area, reach out by email and we’ll help to identify others in your area.

This is a terrific opportunity to reconnect with fellow sisters, enjoy the springtime, and take action in support of peace! Sign up today!

To Do:

  1. Register as an individual or team fundraising champion on our Spring Peace Walk campaign page.
  2. Share your personal/team fundraising page link with friends and family to raise money on behalf of the Sisterhood. Recognition will go to our top individual and team fundraisers, so be sure to spread the word!
  3. Choose a date between May 20-30 and organize a walk with fellow sisters in your local community.
  4. Purchase Sisterhood swag to sport on the day of your local walk! Purchase by May 2 to ensure delivery by May 20.
  5. Take photos and send them to [email protected] for sharing on social media!
  6. Celebrate sisterhood and springtime this May!

Exploration and Healing with Art

June 9, 16, 23, 2022

7:00-8:30 p.m. ET

Join the Sisterhood for a series of three workshops focused on using art as a tool of self-reflection and healing. Artist Tremain Smith will guide participants through exercises using water-based mediums and the combination of shapes, lines, and colors. You can register for one, two, or all three sessions. No experience required. A supplies list will be provided and will need to be purchased ahead of time. Tickets for these sessions are VERY limited. We recommend securing tickets sooner rather than later to ensure you can join fellow Muslim and Jewish sisters in this unique, interfaith, and multicultural visual art experience!

Joint Memorial Day Ceremony: Sharing Sorrow, Bringing Hope Presented by Combatants for Peace

May 3, 2022

1:30 p.m. ET

Combatants for Peace's Joint Memorial Ceremony is the largest annual Israeli-Palestinian peace event. With the recent rise in violence, this Ceremony is more critical than ever before.

The only question is: how do we want to live together? With violence or in peace?

Join Combatants for Peace in demanding peace and freedom. Nearly 500,000 people, from all over the world, are expected to participate in this year's virtual event. Co-organized with Parents Circle-Families Forum, and sponsored by over a hundred organizations, nearly every peace-building NGO in the region joins in some way. The Joint Memorial Ceremony sets the foundation for widespread cultural change and is foundational for the entire peace community. It sets the groundwork to build a new reality based on dignity and respect.

Please note, this opportunity is offered as a courtesy to our partner organization.
