As the Sisterhood, we are many things, but most of all we are a compassionate group of Jewish and Muslim women who care deeply about one another. Many of you have been following Tahija Vikalo since her appointment as our Executive Director last year. Tahija has done an amazing job for us – always with grace, humor, and wisdom. Now Tahija needs us. Her daughter, Tasneem, has been in intensive care for a number of days and is in need of healing prayers. Starting tomorrow night, Thursday, at sundown, we are holding a 24-hour virtual healing vigil for Tasneem and her family.

In both our Muslim and Jewish traditions, we believe in the power of prayer when one of our loved ones needs healing from sickness. Muslims and Jews recite specific prayers and believe in the power of God’s love and mercy. We love and support Tahija at this time, and we believe that in prayer we are all one, unified in our intention {Kavanah (Hebrew)/ Neeyat (Arabic)} to reach Tasneem with God’s healing power. We hope that our Muslim sisters will join us in reading the Qur’an and our Jewish sisters in reading the Psalms.

We will be holding this vigil in an open Zoom link online. We ask that you register to recite some of the Psalms or some of the Qur’an using our Sign-Up Genius form (link below).  We ask those of you that sign up to read in front of the camera in our Zoom room so that Sisters can join you according to their own schedules, listening and praying together with you. Most importantly, we want Tasneem to be able to hear and see you! To commit to recite, please register using the below Sign-Up Genius. Thank you!
