  1. Hi,

This is such an amazing idea! I would love to find out if there is a Bergen County (NJ) chapter, and if not, how one can be started. There is a huge population of Muslim and Jewish women in this area and it would be wonderful to build more bridges!

    Thanking you,
    Hina

  2. Hi Hina. Thank you for reaching out. I would welcome the opportunity to start a chapter in Bergen County. Can you please email me at [email protected] with your phone number and I will get in touch with you to make this happen. Very exciting!

    In Sisterhood,
    Sheryl

  3. Hi, everyone. This really is a fantastic idea. I would love to participate in local NY and NJ events and also start a Westchester, NY chapter.

    Salaam-Shalom,

    Dana

  4. This afternoon it was a sheer delight to be part of a distinguished group of women who all took time to come and hear your interesting talk.
Your eloquent conversation and enthusiasm brought us all to be engaged and interested. We understood how the extremists in all religion – but at the moment the radical Muslims – overshadow the world majority’s moderates.
Let’s all gather together to influence the sane moderate majority to hear our voice loud and clear.

  5. I belong to Princeton SOSS. Our group is almost two years strong. I have met the nicest, brightest new friends. I am sure there is a wide difference in our perspective on many global issues. Our relationships are “real”, caring and unsullied. This produces a lot of strength that we hope can help build bridges between others of our faiths. What an accomplishment if our Sisterhood can be an agent to bring sensitivity and a spirit of “unhatefulness” in approaching these complex long standing

  6. I dedicate volunteer time to The Salaam-Shalom Music Project, Chicago. Might there be an opportunity here? I also organized a good will visit from parents from a Jewish school to the Muslim school that had moved into their former building.

  7. Hi Lori. I just emailed you. There is so much opportunity! I can not wait to speak with you about Chicago! Sheryl

  8. I am Hunterdon County and we have both Muslim and Jewish women here who I know would benefit from a chapter of SOSS. How can we get this started? Thanks, Pam

  9. Hi – I’m an all-American, Christian, white-bread lady and believe this is an AMAZING thing you are doing! If a Chapter ever developed here in Nashville, TN, I would love to join and get to know and support you ladies, and your cultures and customs. I am SO tired and distressed with the developing fears and ugly attitudes that seem so pervasive in the US these days. I want you all to know, and believe, that are still many sane, normal, ‘vanilla’ Americans out here who would be delighted to know and have you as friends and neighbors.

    Thanks for listening.

  10. Hi Susan,

I live in East Brunswick and would love to get active in Sisterhood of Saalam Shalom. Do you know if there is a chapter in the East/New Brunswick Area? If not, I would be interested in joining in Princeton

  11. This is a great thing you are all doing, especially in the face of increasing hate and intolerance. I would love to be a part of it. Any chance that an Akron, Ohio chapter would be considered? I know there is one starting in Cleveland, but another one in Akron would be great for the all the Muslim and Jewish living here. What would we need to do to start a chapter?

Thanks again for building bridges and understanding. That’s the world I want my children to live in.

My friends — this afternoon I am meeting with 5 other women in Albany to talk about forming a chapter here. I understand that I’ve been trying to reach you at a quiet/busy time (end of December/planning for your Balkan trip) but we could sure use some guidance for how to begin! I suppose a meet-and-greet, sharing our stories in pairs and triplets and then highlights with the big group, would be a fine first activity. If anyone is currently monitoring this blog, a reply here will reach me, or I have sent my email to Sheryl and also using the feedback form here on your website. Todah/Shukran!

  13. Hi,
I’m from Pittsburgh, PA and attended the conference last December. I would love to see a chapter in Pittsburgh but need others to help as I’m now working. I do know both Jewish and Muslim women here.

Hi Carol. We will have others help you! Sally will get in touch with you and we can arrange to make this happen. I am so excited and have wanted to have you part of the Sisterhood of Salaam Shalom® chapters since we met. I know that you will be such a gift to the Sisterhood!

  15. I would like to get involved with one of the chapter locations. I visited the East Brunswick group but from my understanding this group is quite full. I would be open to the north brunswick/south brunswick chapter as I am very involved in the community there.
Please provide me information on that chapter or another chapter close to that area.
    Thank you in advance!!

  16. I was thrilled to attend a regional meeting at Atiya Aftab’s home last night and look forward to the first meeting of the Central Jersey group next week. This is a perfect opportunity to take positive steps towards overcoming the “Them” and “us” mentality we see around us. Bravo Sheryl and Ativah.

  17. We are looking forward to our first Jewish-Muslim women’s interfaith understanding breakfast in Panama City, FL on Saturday, 5/21. What does it take to become a Salaam Shalom chapter? Thanks for any guidance you can provide.

  18. Sheryl Olitzky

Hi Lisa. I was thrilled to hear from you. Can you please email me at [email protected]. I will set up time to speak with you and let’s see what we can do! Very exciting!
