Sharona weiss
DEVELOPMENT AND OUTREACH MANAGER
Sharona Weiss has worked in dialogue and human rights for over a decade, directing
advocacy and development for Israeli human rights organizations advocating for
Palestinian rights, including Yesh Din and Global Echo, as well as organizing and
founding several joint intiatives. In 2015, she co-founded an initiative called Baylasan
together with a Palestinian woman, creating support groups for women in Jerusalem. In
2020, she also was part of founding the Faz3a initiative – a joint Palestinian-Israeli effort
to aid Palestinian farmers during the olive harvest. She was awarded the 2022 IIE Victor
J. Goldberg Prize for Peace in the Middle East for her efforts in Faz3a together with her
Palestinian counterpart, Sami Huraini. In addition, Sharona continues to be a member
of the joint photography collective, Activestills.
Sharona holds a B.A. in Communication from UNC-Greensboro and an M.A. in Political
Science from Hebrew University with a concentration in Political Conflict and Israel
Studies. After 15 years in the Middle East, she now lives in Greensboro, NC with her
two children.
