The Sisterhood of Salaam Shalom, a national organization of Muslim and Jewish women dedicated to fighting hate and promoting social justice, is heartbroken at the humanitarian crisis taking place in Afghanistan. Our hearts are with the people of Afghanistan and our sisters who have family and deep connections there. We call on the U.S. Administration to take the ethical path to extend all possible support to those who may be at imminent risk as Afghanistan falls under Taliban control. This especially includes Afghans and their families who were affiliated with the U.S. mission as well as human rights defenders (especially women and girls), journalists, and religious and ethnic minorities. We are keenly aware that there are actions to be taken in support of those at risk and we are collecting resources and ideas and will disseminate suggestions shortly.
