Sisterhood Chapters

As of 2018, over 2,500 Muslim and Jewish women have committed to interfaith exchange and partnership in Sisterhood of Salaam Shalom chapters throughout the United States, Canada, and in England! Chapter members participate in dialogue, socialize, and take part in social action projects. All the while, members are expanding their knowledge of each other’s practices and beliefs, forming strong friendships.

New chapters continue to form around the country. We couldn’t be more thrilled to think of the women in so many cities and towns around the US who are building bridges through relationships!

The creation of meaningful bonds, especially across religious and cultural lines, is a delicate process that takes time and occurs best in small groups. We have found that limiting chapter size allows members to get to know each other more quickly and intimately than they might in a larger setting. Because of this, most of the 150 chapters currently in existence are closed to new members. With on-the-ground leadership from women like you, however, we are opening new chapters every month.

If there’s not an available chapter in your area, we will work with you to open a new chapter for you and other interested women to join. The process can take several months, but the rewards can be life-changing. To get started, please fill out our contact form and indicate your willingness to be a chapter organizer. We look forward to hearing from you soon. Salaam and shalom.

Abe Film Screening and Director's Talkback on January 17, 2021 from 2:00-3:00 pm EST

You’re invited to watch the recently released film, Abe, and participate in a Zoom panel discussion with film director, Fernando Grostein Andrade, and Palestinian/American screenwriters and film producers. The story focuses on twelve-year old Abe (Avraham/Ibrahim), the child of a Jewish mother and Muslim father (Israeli and Palestinian background).  Abe is torn by his family’s fighting over cultural and political issues during every family meal. Follow Abe as he goes on a culinary journey to find himself and familial peace, using food to bring all sides of his family together. For more detailed information, please read this press kit.

We’ll provide you with a link to watch the film ahead of time (please watch prior to January 14th). Then, join us on January 17th for a live Zoom event where you’ll have the opportunity to learn from Abe’s director, producers, screenwriters and meet other women from across the Sisterhood. Once you register on Eventbrite, you will receive a confirmation email with a link to view the film and a Zoom link for Sunday Jan. 17th’s live event.
