Speaker Series

The Sisterhood is honored to have been featured speakers and guests in numerous locations, including:

Listen in as the Sisterhood’s Muslim Co-founder Atiya Aftab and Jewish Board President Roberta Elliott discuss how to navigate dialogue around Israel-Palestine. Despite their differing perspectives, these two sisters are committed to fostering dialogue rooted in shared values to address the complexities of the situation. By prioritizing deep listening and highlighting common ground, they aim to demonstrate effective communication amidst profound differences.

As part of UMass Amherst's Community, Democracy, and Dialogue initiative, Tahija Vikalo and Roberta Elliott gathered to discuss their endeavors in cultivating trust, respect, and relationships among Muslim and Jewish women in the pursuit of peace. They illuminated the Sisterhood’s mission to empower women from both faiths, fostering mutual support, cultural and religious education, and advocacy for social justice.

Sisterhood of Salaam Shalom's Board President Roberta Elliott and Executive Director Tahija Vikalo were interviewed and featured on NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt. The two women spoke about fostering frienships and staying at the table, even during difficult times.
