Despite their differing perspectives, these two sisters are committed to fostering dialogue rooted in shared values to address the complexities of the situation. By prioritizing deep listening and highlighting common ground, they aim to demonstrate effective communication amidst profound differences.

As part of UMass Amherst's Community, Democracy, and Dialogue initiative, Tahija Vikalo and Roberta Elliott gathered to discuss their endeavors in cultivating trust, respect, and relationships among Muslim and Jewish women in the pursuit of peace. They illuminated the Sisterhood’s mission to empower women from both faiths, fostering mutual support, cultural and religious education, and advocacy for social justice.

The Sisterhood of Salaam Shalom was selected as on of the ten global grassroots organizations to receive the prestigious Intercultural Innovation Award from the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC) and the BMW Group.

Odyssey Impact, a leading social impact campaign organization, has announced their partnership with The Sisterhood of Salaam Shalom to participate on a panel taking place during this year’s SXSW Festival. The panel, “Documenting a Movement: Muslim and Jewish Women Unite Against Hate,” will focus on the upcoming documentary, Stranger/Sister, produced by Odyssey Impact’s sister company, Transform Films®.

Facebook launched a first-of-its kind global leadership initiative to train, support and fund Facebook Groups that are impacting the world for good. Amanda Quraishi, an Advisory Board member for the Sisterhood of Salaam Shalom and lead admin for our Facebook Group, is representing us in the program.

The Sisterhood was honored to receive the first Muslim-Jewish Solidarity Award in Berlin! Thank you EVZ Foundation and KIgA for recognizing the work of the Sisterhood. The award was for the best practice of Jewish-Muslim cooperation in the US.
