Tanenbaum Peace Made Possible Gala

The Tanenbaum Gala was held in New York City on Tuesday, October 17, 2023. The gala’s theme was Peace Made Possible; it was focused on recognizing individuals and companies who have dedicated time and effort to building and establishing peace. The Sisterhood of Salaam Shalom and its co-founders, Atiya Aftab and Sheryl Olitzky were acknowledged for the work they have done to build bridges and foster connections between different religions. Both women were recipients of the Rabbi Marc Tanenbaum Award for the Advancement of Interreligious Understanding. This award is presented to those individuals whose work has centered around encouraging and establishing respect among religious differences. Over their time working together, Atiya and Sheryl have helped foster relationships of trust and respect between Muslim and Jewish women of all ages across the country. The Peace Made Possible Gala recognized Atiya and Sheryl for dedicating their efforts to educating others about their faith and cultural practices.
